Gog-Magog developments in Turkey

by Michael G. Mickey

In Ezekiel 38 & 39, we're told of an incredible military attack that is set to take place against Israel in the prophetic future. Those on tap to participate, according to many respected theologians, are the following nations:

·                                 Gog - Most agree this is a reference to Russia.

·                                 Meshech - Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia, but some say it refers to the Moscow area.

·                                 Tubal - Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia.

·                                 Persia - modern Iran

·                                 Ethiopia

·                                 Libya

·                                 Gomer - eastern Europe or Turkey

·                                 Togarmah - southeastern Europe or Turkey

Turkey, in spite of its efforts to remain a pro-Western nation, clearly appears headed for a dramatic change of mind in the prophetic future - one that will see it become one with its Islamic brethren in seeking Israel's destruction. Is there any evidence to support that notion? Yes, as I have documented on numerous occasions. As Turkey continues to attempt to gain entry into the European Union, all kinds of issues are popping up, seemingly frustrating Turkey's efforts. Am I surprised by that? Not at all, as this is what Bible prophecy seems to indicate we should expect to see happening.

The latest? Turkey, according to a Fox News story, recently tapped a hardliner to head its military, General Yasar Buyukanit. As I perused the story's content, I didn't see a great deal of significance in this taking place until I read the following (emphasis added mine):

Buyukanit's outspokenness and his strong nationalist views have made him popular in Turkey, especially as Turks become increasingly disillusioned with their country's EU bid and the growing opposition in Europe to their possible membership.

The appointment came in advance of a meeting of the military's top leadership, which is expected to make a regularly scheduled series of appointments to the military's top positions. A Western diplomat, speaking on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the subject, said the extensive military changes were likely to have delayed the military's consideration of the possibility of Turkey contributing to a possible Lebanon peacekeeping force.

The Fox News story above is dated 7-31-06. What has shown up in the news since then is equally interesting, in my opinion. Middle East Newsline, in a story dated 8-3-06, is claiming Turkey plans to buy 30 advanced F-16 aircraft from the United States at a cost of $1.5 billion. Additionally, a Middle East Newsline story dated 8-4-06 indicates China and Turkey have developed and marketed an advanced rocket - the B-611, which the story indicates was "developed in secret", adding that "its arrival marks a secret Chinese-Turkish project meant to supply artillery-based rockets to both countries as well as client states."

While there seems to be no cause for anyone to conclude that General Yasar Buyukanit had anything to do with either of the matters addressed by the Middle East Newsline articles, isn't it interesting that, at a moment when tensions in the Middle East are so high, a hardliner would be appointed as the commander of Turkey's military? Isn't it likewise interesting that he is specifically popular with Turks who are disillusioned with Europe's growing opposition to Turkey becoming an EU member? Isn't it interesting that Turkey is presently looking to upgrade its air forces, in light of Ezekiel's prediction that the Gog-Magog alliance will "be like a cloud to cover the land?"

I think it's quite possible we're witnessing yet another development leading us closer to the fulfillment of Ezekiel's end time prophecies hidden within the selection of this Turkish hardliner to head Turkey's military - another reason for us to keep looking up!

Jesus Christ is Lord and He is coming soon!

Achmadinjihad: War To Wipe Out Israel Near

Editorials in Iranian newspapers claim '50 percent of Israel already destroyed,' say 'Israel must collapse.' Iranian newspapers Kehyan and and Resalat have urged Muslims around the world to prepare for a 'great war' to destroy the State of Israel.

The newspapers published the editorials, translated from Persian by MEMRI , the Middle East translation service, to mark 'Quds' day on October 20, an Iranian 'holiday' calling for the "liberation" of Jerusalem and war against Israel.

"Hizb'allah destroyed a t least half of Israel in the Lebanon war... Now only half the path (to its destruction) remains," an editorial in the conservative Keyhan newspaper declared.

"It was proven that, by means of an offensive operation that need not be equal to Israel's moves, it is possible to neutralize the Zionist navy," the article said triumphantly.

'Great War Not Far Off'

It continued: "Just as in one 33-day war more than 50 percent of Israel was destroyed, and the hope of its supporters for the continued life of this regime was broken, it is likely that in the next battle, the second half will also collapse."

"On that day... Jordan will not be able to prevent the Jordanian Islamists from operating through the long Jordan-Palestine border, and the millions of Egyptian Islamists... will not let the Sinai-Israel border remain quiet, and the Syrian Golan Heights will not remain as a (mere) observer of the battle. That day is not so far off."

Th e Resalat newspaper struck a similarly bellicose tone with an editorial entitled "Preparations for the Great War."

"The great war is ahead of us, (and will break out) perhaps tomorrow, or in another few days, or in a few months, or even in a few Years... Israel must collapse," the newspaper said.

It added: "For the first time in the 60 years of its disgraceful life, the Zionist regime - the West's beloved in the Middle East - tasted the taste of defeat, and the citizens of this regime trembled at the menace of Hizbullah's missiles… The nation of Muslims must prepare for the great war, so as to completely wipe out the Zionist regime, and remove this cancerous growth. Like the Imam (Ayatollah) Khomeini said: 'Israel must collapse.'"

Prayer for Salvation: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. If we have invited Jesus to come and live within us and be the Lord of our lives then our inheritance in the future kingdom is assured.

God's word says in John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

In order to invite Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, you must believe in you heart that He is the Son of God, believe that He died upon the cross of Calvary as an atonement for your wrong doings, and believe that He arose from death and the grave. We must confess and repent of our sins and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. If you have never done this then stop right now and pray this prayer.

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus repenting and asking forgiveness of all my sins. Your Word says, "whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved" (Acts 2:21). I am calling on You. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10. "If thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved" I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I am a Christian ..a child of Almighty God! I am saved!

You are now an heir to the Kingdom of God! Your future is assured. I want to encourage you to find a church in your local area to attend. Tell someone that you have just received Jesus as your Lord. Than start digging into God's Word.

"I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day" (2 Timothy 1:12).
