PURGATORY/REINCARNATION/GHOSTS
Ecc 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has set eternity in their heart, without which man cannot find out the work that God makes from the beginning even to the end.
Ecc 3:14 I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever; nothing is to be added to it, and nothing is to diminish from it. And God does it so that they fear before Him.
Ecc 3:19 Humans and animals come to the same end--humans die, animals die. We all breathe the same air.
Heb 9:27 And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment,
It is appointed or laid up by divine decree: “Dust thou art, and unto dust thou shalt return. Gen. 3:19 This law of death will hold firm for all men until the time of the rapture when the living who are to be translated will not see death. See 1Cor. 15:51-58; 1 Thes. 4:13-16; Phil. 3:21.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I speak a mystery to you; we shall not all fall asleep, but we shall all be changed; 1Co 15:52 in a moment, in a glance of an eye, at the last trumpet. For a trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. 1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 1Co 15:54 But when this corruptible shall put on incorruption, and when this mortal shall put on immortality, then will take place the word that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory. 1Co 15:55 O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory?" 1Co 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the Law. 1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 15:58 So that, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not without fruit in the Lord.
1Th 4:13 But I would not have you ignorant, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, that you be not grieved, even as others who have no hope. 1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will also bring with Him all those who have fallen asleep through Jesus. 1Th 4:15 For we say this to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall not go before those who are asleep. 1Th 4:16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first.
CATHOLIC PURGATORY Here are the Scriptures they use to prove Purgatory.
Dan 12:10;(This is referring to the Tribulation and was taken out of context see:) Dan 12:7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream, raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven; and I heard him swear by him who lives for ever that it would be for a time, two times, and half a time; and that when the shattering of the power of the holy people comes to an end all these things would be accomplished.
Dan 12:8 I heard, but I did not understand. Then I said, "O my lord, what shall be the issue of these things?"
Dan 12:9 He said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. (End Times) Dan 12:10 Many shall purify themselves, and make themselves white, and be refined; but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand; but those who are wise shall understand. Zec 13:9;(This refers to the purpose of the Tribulation not purgatory. They take Scriptures out of contest and put their own spin on them.) See: Zec 13:8 In the whole land, says the LORD, two thirds shall be cut off and perish, and one third shall be left alive. Zec 13:9 And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'They are my people'; and they will say, 'The LORD is my God.'" Mal 3:2 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? "For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap; Mal 3:3 he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, till they present right offerings to the LORD. (I don’t see the connection to purgatory here, but this is one of the verses they use.)
Matt 5:25 Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; Matt 5:26 truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny. (I put on the extra verse to show what is really being talked about. To spiritualize everything in the Bible makes no sense. God teaches man how to deal with the everyday events as well as spiritual.) Luk 12:47 And that servant who knew his master's will, but did not make ready or act according to his will, shall receive a severe beating. Luk 12:48 But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more. (I used these in the chapter on punishment and reward. There are degrees of reward in heaven and degrees of punishment in hell. Do we not base our own justice system on the same premise? Would a murderer get the same punishment as a shoplifter? When we are forgiven much in this life much is required of us. Some of the best testimonies are those from people who have turned from a life of rampant sin to become preachers, singers of gospel music and other vocations that lead others to see the glory of God.)
Luke 12:58-59 Luk 12:55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, 'There will be scorching heat'; and it happens. Luk 12:56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky; but why do you not know how to interpret the present time? Luk 12:57 "And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? Luk 12:58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison. Luk 12:59 I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper." It seems they really emphasize paying your way out of hell or purgatory. I put in the context from which these verses were taken so the reader can judge for him or herself.) 1 Cor. 3:13-15 1Co 3:11 For no other foundation can any one lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1Co 3:12 Now if any one builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw-- 1Co 3:13 each man's work will become manifest; for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 1Co 3:14 If the work which any man has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 1Co 3:15 If any man's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire. (Once again the complete thought from the verses above the ones they recommend were added. These verses were used in the chapter in this book on punishment and reward. The only TICKET to heaven is salvation through Jesus. Rewards are built on that. One might liken it to the money one saves to spend while going on a long vacation. There is one ticket that is the same for everyone. We build on that. No purgatory. It will all be decided in this life…NOT THE NEXT)
The following are some beliefs that confuse and deceive.
Traditional Christian spiritualityRoman Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox both consider it to be a fact of great beauty that God provides a means of purification after death, considering it "a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they may be loosed from sins" (2 Mac 12:39-46). The Eastern Orthodox church, separate from the Roman Church since well before 1054 (see East-West Schism), has no explicit recognition of the term "Purgatory" nor acceptance of such a state distinct from being "asleep in the Lord". Yet belief that the dead may be loosed from sins, defined with differing levels of explicitness as mentioned, plays a very large part in the spiritual life of devout Catholics and Orthodox, as numerous prayers and liturgical actions, many dating from the earliest Christian times, assume that purification after death is possible for those who do not die in a state of mortal sin, whom the Eastern Orthodox might refer to as "the righteous dead".[1] The traditional Roman Catholic Grace after meals includes a reference to the alleviation sought: "...and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, Amen." In addition to the everyday and liturgical spiritual life of the Catholic, there exist Purgatorial societies³ which regularly offer prayer, especially the Mass, for the deceased. None of these ceremonies or doctrines, however, are intended to become a license for sin; a Catholic would consider that to be "tempting God" (cf. Lk 4:12). Divergent theological stancesProtestant churches largely reject explicit belief in Purgatory. As 2 Maccabees is a deuterocanonical book, most Protestants consider it to be apocryphal, and do not consider that the other Scripture verses mentioned admit of a belief in Purgatory. Many Protestants claim that belief in Purgatory has been used, by unscrupulous priests if not by the Catholic Church itself, to terrify parishioners into donating money to fund Church projects, on the pretext that they might effectively buy their loved ones out of the torment of Purgatory. Many Catholics agree that the belief has occasionally been used to fleece the flock, but challenge the notion that the dogma is rooted in avarice. Some Eastern Orthodox sources, including the Ecumenical Patriarchate, consider Purgatory to be among "innovations proclaimed in the West" that are not acceptable within Orthodox doctrine,[2] and hold to a "condition of waiting"[3] as a more apt description of the period after death for those not borne directly to heaven. Jewish theologyThe Jewish Talmud may be thought to indicate Purgatory in Sabbath 33b and Rosh HaShanah 16b-17a; a similar belief in the efficacy of prayers for the dead is manifest in the Mourner's Qaddish which is prayed for 11 months after a loved one dies. The Septuagint Scriptures do include the Maccabees which incorporate prayer for the dead (2 Mac 12:42-45). However, Jewish theology is inconclusive about Jewish teaching in this area, as indeed it is about almost all life-after-death teachings.
Once to Die
Enoch and Elijah are the only ones who never died in the Bible. That is why it is believed they are the two witnesses that appear during the last 3 ½ years of the Tribulation to preach in Jerusalem and have power to breath fire and cause the plagues of Egypt as they see fit. They will be KILLED by the anti-Christ and left to lie in the streets while the TV cameras are rolling and the world celebrates their demise. Then they will be translated to Heaven (on camera) by God. This will be another rapture event.
Only those in the Bible that Jesus raised from the dead would be said to die twice such as Lazarus, who was dead and buried 4 days, the widow’s son, and the young girl who was daughter to a high-ranking Jew. There are also instances of the dead being raised in the Old Testament. All these people eventually died. They were not put in new bodies or sent to Purgatory. In the Old Testament they were sent to Paradise or hell. Since the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus people go to Heaven or hell. Jesus took the residents of Paradise to heaven when he ascended to heaven. They were saved by looking forward to the resurrection. We are saved by looking back on the finished event.
All who live at the end of the Millennium and who do not rebel against God will be permitted to live on the new earth forever without dying. Death will be destroyed and all things will be again as they were before Adam sinned. See: Rev. 20:7-10; 21:1-22; 1Cor. 15:24-48.
DEATH ENDS PROBATION After death the judgment, not a second chance to live on earth and be saved. Death ends all probation for one who dies. If he is righteous at death his soul and spirit go to heaven awaiting the resurrection of the body.See: 2 Cor 5:8; Phil 1: 21-24; Heb. 12:23; Rev. 6:9-11.
If he is wicked at death his soul and spirit go to hell to await the resurrection of his body. See: Luke 16: 19-31; Isaiah 14:9; Rev. 20: 11-15.
Luk 16:19 "There once was a rich man, expensively dressed in the latest fashions, wasting his days in conspicuous consumption. Luk 16:20 A poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, had been dumped on his doorstep. Luk 16:21 All he lived for was to get a meal from scraps off the rich man's table. His best friends were the dogs who came and licked his sores. Luk 16:22 "Then he died, this poor man, and was taken up by the angels to the lap of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. Luk 16:23 In hell and in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance and Lazarus in his lap. Luk 16:24 He called out, 'Father Abraham, mercy! Have mercy! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool my tongue. I'm in agony in this fire.' Luk 16:25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that in your lifetime you got the good things and Lazarus the bad things. It's not like that here. Here he's consoled and you're tormented. Luk 16:26 Besides, in all these matters there is a huge chasm set between us so that no one can go from us to you even if he wanted to, nor can anyone cross over from you to us.' Luk 16:27 "The rich man said, 'Then let me ask you, Father: Send him to the house of my father Luk 16:28 where I have five brothers, so he can tell them the score and warn them so they won't end up here in this place of torment.' Luk 16:29 "Abraham answered, 'They have Moses and the Prophets to tell them the score. Let them listen to them.' Luk 16:30 "'I know, Father Abraham,' he said, 'but they're not listening. If someone came back to them from the dead, they would change their ways.' Luk 16:31 "Abraham replied, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the Prophets, they're not going to be convinced by someone who rises from the dead.'" THE MESSAGE BIBLE
18 FACTS OF THE STORY ARE:
There is no such thing as Purgatory or a second chance to be on probation in the Millennium or any other time. Neither is there a reincarnation or a transmigration from body to body. This only happens in books, movies and television.
REINCARNATION
Astrology and star gazing – divination by stars (Isa. 47:13; Jer. 10:2; Dan. 1:20; 2:2, 10; 4:7; 5:7-15) Charms, enchantments, witchcraft, necromancy, all manner of wizardry are all practices that are carried on in connection with demons, called familiar spirits. All who forsook God and sought help from these demons were to be destroyed.
Are you impressed with hypnotists who bring out another personality that lived previously in one of their patients? Even those who without hypnotists have that strong feeling of dejavue or think they are recalling a past life, these familiar spirits have been here since the beginning of this planet. They are so numerous they have been assigned to every person who ever lived and know that person inside and out. They can cause anyone to recall events they never lived through by making them think they are someone else. People who are not shielded by the Holy Spirit are subject to spirits that decide to invade their minds and bodies for whatever reason. The main reason is to cause confusion. This does not mean the dead person is living again through another body. This is a familiar spirit or demon.
FAMILIAR SPIRITS (who they really are) What is spirit contact? Spirit contact, as perpetuated by the likes of so-called spiritualists such as John Edwards, is NOT contact with the human spirits created by God. How do we know this? God has told us so. In the Bible we learn that there is a “great chasm” between man and heaven that cannot be crossed. In Luke 16 it tells us that man cannot communicate with the dead. So, just who is Mr. Edwards talking with while the TV cameras are rolling or at his mega seminars? Those of you who have read my book know that I was once a spiritualist medium and I can attest with all certainty that there is something on the “other side”. I thank God that I was able to realize that this “something” were demons who were impersonating the departed. If you don’t get anything else from this piece, please pay attention here: YES, the ‘other side’ can be contacted…I have personally done so. But the contact is not with your former loved ones, but demons of the Prince of Darkness. http://www.espministries.com/ From Exposing Satan’s Power by Ben Alexander, evangelist, a former spiritualist medium who came face to face with demons. Only through the Word of God was Ben able to be rescued from a fate worse than death.
This should also explain ghosts. Ghosts who haunt houses, certain places or poltergeists who follow people. Many think battle fields are full of ghosts. These are the demon spirits left behind in the wake of war. They love places where there was great violence. See the movie NOMADS starring Pierce Brossnan. It does a great job of showing this. They are territorial. Fallen angels have rule over cities and demons are under them and assigned to certain territories. Read also THIS PRESENT DARKNESS by Frank Peretti. Copies are available through Amazon.
Some people have stories of ghosts who have saved them or given them comfort. If the results are positive it was probably one of God’s faithful angels sent to save, support or comfort and used the form of a loved one to bring comfort and reassurance. Angels, good and bad, can shape shift and look like anyone. They can take physical form long enough to keep one from falling off a mountain, drowning, or whatever is necessary to guard the lives of the heirs of salvation. Prayer to God brings His faithful angels on the scene. You may not recognize them. They can look like anybody. I have met a few, but didn’t always realize it until later and I have fallen off mountains, been almost hit by cars, almost drowned and then held up by invisible hands etc. These are not ghosts. These are angels, guardian angels and sometimes warrior angels when they are needed. Praise God for the angels He sends when we need them.
Life in this body is a time of testing. We’re in school here. What we do here while we are alive on earth, decides where we will spend eternity. We either graduate to heaven or graduate to hell. There is no reincarnation, no purgatory and no way back. Death of this body is final.
Prayer for Salvation: Jesus Christ is the Son of God. If we have invited Jesus to come and live within us and be the Lord of our lives then our inheritance in the future kingdom is assured. God's word says in John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." In order to invite Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, you must believe in you heart that He is the Son of God, believe that He died upon the cross of Calvary as an atonement for your wrong doings, and believe that He arose from death and the grave. We must confess and repent of our sins and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. If you have never done this then stop right now and pray this prayer. Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus repenting and asking forgiveness of all my sins. Your Word says, "whosoever shall call on the Name of the Lord shall be saved" (Acts 2:21). I am calling on You. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life according to Romans 10:9-10. "If thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved" I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I am a Christian ..a child of Almighty God! I am saved! You are now an heir to the Kingdom of God! Your future is assured. I want to encourage you to find a church in your local area to attend. Tell someone that you have just received Jesus as your Lord. Than start digging into God's Word.
